On his social network,[1] President Trump, after expressing glowing optimism about negotiating peace between Putin and Zelenskyy, noted that the Pope “would be very interested in hosting the negotiations.” In this update on The Last Act in the Drama, we consider what this reveals about the “Peace Pope,” Leo XIV.
Trump appears to be positioning himself as a singular force for peace—and trade. European nations were merely “informed” of his initiative to engage with Putin, not included in the planning. While they focused on a new sanctions package against Russia, Trump was advocating for “largescale trade.”[2] This could indicate a deeper strain developing in transatlantic relations than the tariffs have already caused. This could be a fault line signaling an impending earthquake, culminating in the division of Babylon during the seventh bowl of wrath.
Meanwhile, the prospect of Pope Leo XIV hosting peace talks between Putin and Zelenskyy within Vatican City would mark an unprecedented development. This pope is signaling that the Vatican is an active political player, committed to fostering peace.
This sounds promising—war is universally recognized as evil. Yet, consider how this institution, dormant as a political force for over two centuries, is now asserting its influence. The Bible describes this entity as the “little horn” that grew into the Roman Catholic Church, outlining its strategy:
And through his policy [success] also he shall cause craft [fraud] to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. (Daniel 8:25)
The translation obscures the first line. The original Hebrew uses “intelligence” for “policy,” and implies “success.” Through successful peace negotiations, “fraud” will prosper. War-weary, the world craves peace and may embrace the papacy’s fraudulent promises. By peace, he is leading many to ruin. This scenario is unfolding before us. Heed God’s warning: not all that appears as peace is the genuine article!
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. (1 Thessalonians 5:3)
